As a consultant, you know the software and related services you sell areproven ways to deliver better software to customers quicker and cheaper.Except too often software acquisitions end up costing more, takinglonger, and delivering less value than customers expected; andconsultants/sellers get blamed. Ironically, many software acquisitionfailures are caused by buyers (and sellers) following mistakenconventional wisdom "best practices," including ones institutionalizedin industry standards.The typical software acquisition is performed by people doing it for thefirst time. Usually, they copy what their predecessors did the previousacquisition and simply perpetuate making the same mistakes.
